Garinish Island – Ilnacullin Garden

We visited this lovely spot during a holiday in western Cork in August 2007. You get to it by driving to Glengarriff, on the edge of the Beara peninsula, and then taking a short boat trip across Bantry Bay past a colony of basking seals to the island itself. The island's owner, Annan Bryce, commissioned Harold Peto to design it in the early 1900's.

It was featured on the Flying Gardener BBC series
