The Island of Agathoníssi - Northern Dodecanese
(Images & Information as of September 2004)
An unspoilt little island with 130, or so, inhabitants and off the ususal tourist route. No natural springs, so water cisterns and rain-catchment basins do the job (with some water coming from Rhódes). An off-shore fish-farm is to be found off the East coast (owned by a supermarket chain in Athens). Several sheltered coves make good places for yachts to drop anchor. There is little fresh produce to purchase on the island, so bring some fruit with you.
