Business as usual

The power-crazed puppeteers,
Smiled their crooked smiles,
As media vultures spread their lies,
Across the endless miles.

They'd found their perfect protégé,
Perched high above his station,
Set winds of spin beneath his wings,
Spread fear across the nation.

'The devil is in the detail,'
Said the King of fantasy,
Flinging words like rotten fruit,
From the paranoia tree.

So the chimp's foot stayed in his mouth,
And filled round holes with square pegs,
Made his home in the deepest south,
Whilst the eagles tended golden eggs.
