In the quiet of the night,
Greet your private world,
That strange and hazy land,
Unique by your mind's construction,
A sleepy transition,
Hypnotised into brief hibernation,
Released to the womb's embrace,
The day's clutch relents.

Too soon for the child,
Unwilling to climb the stairs to bed,
Placated by lullabies,
Impatient to throw off the nightly burden.

But for you,
Revel in unspoken things,
Masked lovers,
Playing the role of your desire,
Blend hidden fears with ancient scenes.

It will be shattered by the alarm,
But until then,
Sweet dreams.
