Homo Sapiens

Once there were no politics,
No religion too,
Now we are so many,
They are forced to be true.

Look hard enough for anything,
It will soon be there,
All of our excuses,
Out of thin air.

Homo sapiens we are called,
And by our past,
I'm appalled,
Our history's future seems assured,
To be going backwards,
Instead of forward.

We fight and kill and torture,
For things we'll never need,
While thousands die and suffer,
That we could clothe and feed.

We're justified and multiplied,
Exploited and corrupt,
Our leaders who brought us here,
Are morally bankrupt.

Homo sapiens we are called,
And by our past,
I'm appalled,
Our history's future seems assured,
To be going backwards,
Instead of forward.

The bloom of health and happiness,
Of global preservation,
Strangled by selfishness,
Red tape and regulations.

Adam's ale is going stale,
Forests keep on falling,
Our life support is gonna fail,
Unless we heed its calling.

Planes and cars and industry,
Are dumping in the sky,
We're surrounded by free energy,
So don't you wonder why?

Homo sapiens we are called,
And by our past,
I'm appalled,
Our history's future seems assured,
To be going backwards,
Instead of forward.
