Summer Sea

Crystal ocean, free my soul,
Sudden sunbeam, turn the shoal,
Breaker's foam, caress the shore,
Fools turn out, and turn back sore.

Golden sands and pebble beach,
Bronzed and tanned, just out of reach,
Far away from the river's midges,
Contest instead with sand in wiches.

Seagulls circling in the sky,
Long-tailed kites dart on high,
Snorkels bob amongst the crests,
Old men revealing yellowed vests.
